Milliken TRITEC Silver AFM Ag Dressing — Pumps Exudate Away, 7-Day Silver, 4 Sizes

Two patented technologies in one dressing — Active Fluid Management pumps exudate away while SelectSilver ceramic ion technology kills bacteria for 7 days. Milliken TRITEC Silver (also known as AFM Ag) is a non-adhesive antimicrobial wound contact layer that combines two proprietary technologies unavailable in any other dressing. Active Fluid Management (AFM) is a layered micro-knit fabric architecture where each layer is progressively more hydrophilic than the layer below — creating a continuous directional pumping action that draws excess exudate vertically away from the wound bed and into the secondary dressing, while keeping the wound surface at the optimal moisture level for healing without becoming wet. SelectSilver is a patented ceramic silver ion matrix — silver ions are bound within an inert NaHZr2(PO4)3 ceramic carrier and released in a controlled, sustained manner only in the presence of moisture and sodium — providing broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity for 7 days per application without the cytotoxic burst release of standard silver dressings. The result is a single non-adherent contact layer that simultaneously manages moisture, prevents maceration, kills infection-causing organisms including MRSA and VRE, and allows secondary dressing changes without disturbing the wound bed.

✔ Active Fluid Management — Continuously Pumps Exudate Away, Prevents Maceration    ✔ SelectSilver Ceramic Ion Technology — Controlled Sustained Silver Release, Not a Burst    ✔ 7-Day Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial — Kills MRSA, VRE & Pseudomonas    ✔ Remains Intact on Removal — No Fragmentation, No Residue in Wound Bed    ✔ Secondary Dressing Changed Independently — Contact Layer Stays in Place

Indicated For — Wound Types

  • Partial thickness burns
  • Surgical incisions and post-operative wounds
  • Skin grafts and donor sites
  • Lacerations and abrasions
  • Stage I–IV dermal ulcers — vascular, venous, pressure, and diabetic
  • Venous leg ulcers — including under compression therapy
  • Pressure injuries with moderate to heavy exudate
  • Diabetic foot ulcers with infection or colonization risk
  • Infected or heavily colonized wounds requiring sustained antimicrobial activity at the wound base
  • Any exuding wound where maceration prevention and antimicrobial protection are simultaneously needed

Note: Use with caution in patients with known sensitivity to silver compounds. A secondary absorbent dressing is required. For highly infected wounds follow local antimicrobial stewardship protocols.

How It Works — Two Patented Technologies Working Together

Most silver wound contact layers rely on the wound's exudate to activate and spread the antimicrobial agent — but if the wound is too wet, silver is diluted; if too dry, it's not activated. TRITEC Silver solves both problems simultaneously through the combination of AFM and SelectSilver. The AFM micro-knit structure creates a passive pumping effect — by making each successive layer of the fabric progressively more absorbent than the one below, exudate is drawn directionally upward and outward toward the secondary dressing at a controlled rate, keeping the wound surface at precisely the moisture level needed for healing. This means the wound is never oversaturated (preventing maceration) and never undersaturated (preventing desiccation). The SelectSilver ceramic matrix works in this controlled moisture environment to release silver ions at the rate the wound requires — slowly and continuously for the full 7-day wear period — rather than in the burst-release pattern of metallic silver or silver-impregnated alginate dressings that peak early and exhaust their silver content within 24–48 hours. The ceramic carrier (NaHZr2(PO4)3) is completely inert — only the silver ion is released, leaving no chemical residue in the wound bed.

  • AFM graduated hydrophilicity pumps exudate directionally away — wound stays evenly moist, not wet
  • Prevents maceration of wound bed and periwound skin — continuous pumping action throughout wear
  • SelectSilver ceramic matrix releases silver ions only in presence of moisture and sodium — no burst release
  • Sustained silver delivery for 7 days — maintains effective antimicrobial concentrations throughout wear period
  • Kills MRSA, VRE, Pseudomonas, gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, and fungi
  • Inert ceramic carrier — no chemical residue released into wound bed with the silver
  • Contact layer remains intact throughout wear and on removal — no fragmentation, no debris
  • Secondary dressing changed independently — contact layer undisturbed, fewer wound bed disruptions
  • Highly flexible micro-knit construction — conforms to irregular wound geometries without losing contact
  • Compression compatible — AFM pumping action maintained under compression wraps

The Two Patented Technologies — What Makes TRITEC Silver Unique

Technology How It Works Clinical Benefit
Active Fluid Management (AFM) Multi-layer micro-knit fabric with graduated hydrophilicity — each layer progressively more absorbent, creates passive directional pumping of exudate upward and away from wound Wound stays evenly moist for optimal healing — maceration prevented without desiccation
SelectSilver Ceramic Ion Matrix Silver ions bound within inert NaHZr2(PO4)3 ceramic carrier — released in controlled sustained manner only in presence of moisture and sodium, not by chemical reaction 7-day sustained antimicrobial efficacy — no burst-fade cycle, no chemical residue, inert carrier

Choosing the Right Size

  • 3000005137 — 4" x 5" Rectangle — 10/box — Standard size — the most widely used size for general pressure ulcer, venous ulcer, diabetic foot ulcer, and post-surgical wound management. The go-to choice for most clinical applications.
  • 3000004573 — 6" x 6" Square — 10/box — Large square — broader coverage for large pressure injuries, donor sites, extensive post-surgical wounds, and any wound requiring maximum square pad coverage per application.
  • 3000004574 — 1" x 24" Strip — 10/box — Narrow strip — designed for wound packing, tunneling wounds, narrow sinus tracts, and elongated narrow wounds where a wider pad cannot achieve full wound contact. Cut to length as needed.
  • 3000004575 — 4" x 48" Roll — box of rolls — Continuous roll format — ideal for large or irregular wound surfaces, burns, donor sites, and facilities requiring maximum flexibility to cut exact wound dimensions per application. Most cost-effective per square inch.

Application Tip: Select a size that covers the full wound surface with slight overlap onto intact periwound skin. The contact layer can be cut to shape without compromising AFM or SelectSilver performance. Cover with an appropriate absorbent secondary dressing — the secondary can be changed as often as needed without disturbing the contact layer.

Good value for a high quality product with some possible safety compromises
Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong, Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong
This power strip is a practical solution for anyone living in an older home that still has two‑prong outlets. Many older houses were built long before grounded wiring became standard, so finding a way to expand your available outlets without rewiring the entire room can be a challenge. This adapter is designed specifically for those situations, and it provides a surprising amount of capability in a compact unit. Before using it, I wanted to be sure it was safe to plug a three‑prong device into a two‑prong outlet. It is legal to use an adapter like this in the United States, but only when you understand its limitations. A two‑to‑three‑prong adapter does not create a true ground. The product page notes that this model is built to UL 1363 standards and includes surge and overload protection, which helps add a layer of safety for older outlets. Still, it is not a substitute for proper grounding, and anyone who wants full protection should eventually have an electrician install grounded outlets. As for the device itself, it is well designed and easy to use. The main body includes 11 outlets, along with 3 USB ports and 3 USB‑C ports for charging phones, tablets, and other small electronics. All USB ports are standard 5V. There is a power switch with a green indicator light, and the back of the unit includes mounting holes if you want to secure it to a wall or desk. The size is compact—about 8 inches long, 4 inches wide, and just over an inch thick—so it fits neatly in tight spaces. Overall, this is a good value for anyone who needs more outlets and charging options in a home with older two‑prong receptacles. It offers convenience, versatility, and thoughtful safety features in one organized unit.

Great many outlets but insufficient usb power for most needs
Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong, Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong
I absolutely LOVE how many ports/outlets this extension unit has. It has usb-As, usb-Cs, AC outlets, on/off switch... In that regard, it's perfect. But. If you're looking to charge your phone or laptop, for example, by plugging your charging cord without an adapter, directly into a usb-c or usb-a port, you'll be completely out of luck. When I first got this I plugged in my laptop cord directly into one the usb-c ports while using it. I eventually, fairly quickly I must say, realized that it was as though the laptop wasn't plugged in at all. It even seemed to lose power faster than if it weren't plugged in! And, it was the only thing plugged in at the time. So it might just be me expecting a charge instead of the opposite, but the issue stands. I had to go and find my A/C adapter and charge my laptop the same way I would without this unit, as if I was plugged into the wall. Now I'm sure there are people out here surprised that anyone would be confused by having to use an adapter to charge a phone or laptop while using this unit. My confusion comes from the unit having as many usb-c and usb-a ports as it does. I don't think it's a stretch to assume, as I did, that the point of having so many ports is to actually use them. One reason I haven't rated this lower is that I knew of the ports low voltage and wattage, so I wasn't completely surprised by having to use an adapter, though I WAS surprised by how completely useless the usb ports seem to be. Also, one description picture shows a phone being charged WITHOUT an adapter. And this does charge my phone but only if I'm not using it. It stays at pretty much the same battery level if I'm using it while charging it. So I don't think I'm 100% at fault for being surprised If you will be using the usb ports to charge a small appliance, a groomer, a shaver, a toothbrush? I'm sure this will do well. I don't have any of those so I guess I won't be using the usb ports at all or will use them only if I'm not in a rush to get a fast charge. Once the initial surprise subsided, I'm still glad I got this. It has ELEVEN A/C outlets, a flat plug that can fit just about anywhere and behind any piece of furniture, and I could still charge my phone (thought not my laptop) in a pinch. I think the price at the time of this review is fine for those features. 3.5 stars.

Many Outlets in One Compact Device!
Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong
The number of outlets is impressive for its size, and the USB ports are super convenient for phones, tablets, and other small devices. Everything charges steadily without overheating, and the 5 ft cord gives enough flexibility to place it where I need it. I also really appreciate the compact design. Even with so many plugs available, it doesn’t feel bulky or cluttered. It fits nicely behind furniture and keeps everything organized instead of having a mess of adapters everywhere. It’s especially perfect for older homes or apartments with only a couple of outlets per room. While it’s not a substitute for true grounded outlets for heavy appliances, it works perfectly for everyday electronics. These items are typically fine: Phone chargers Laptops LED lamps Routers / modems TVs (modern, low draw) These devices are double-insulated or low risk, so they don’t rely heavily on grounding. Avoid using this for: Space heaters Air conditioners Microwaves Refrigerators Power tools Anything metal-bodied or high-power Without a real ground, a fault could energize the casing and increase shock risk. Overall, this is a solid, reliable, and incredibly convenient power strip. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone needing more outlets and USB charging in one simple solution for appliances motioned above that are safer to use with relatively better price.

Perfect Sofa-Side Charging Hub
Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong, Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong
I picked this power strip mainly to use next to my sofa, where I usually charge my tablet, phone, and laptop while relaxing in the evening. Having 11 AC outlets and multiple USB ports in one place has made that corner much more organized, and I no longer have chargers scattered everywhere. The layout is well thought out. Larger plugs don't block neighboring outlets, and the flat angled plug fits nicely behind furniture. The 5-foot cord gives enough flexibility to position the strip where it's most convenient. I also like having both USB-A and USB-C ports available for smaller devices. For phones, tablets, earbuds, and similar electronics, the built-in USB ports have been very useful. For my everyday use, charging personal devices and powering small electronics, the unit has performed as expected. The overload protection switch and built-in safety features provide additional peace of mind. Overall, this has been a practical solution for adding more outlets to an older two-prong receptacle while keeping my charging area tidy and easy to access.

Major Safety Red Flag! 3 Prong Outlets, 2 Prong Plug, This Does Not Provide A Grounded Connection!
Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong, Size: 5FT, Color: White 2prong
This power strip has a compact design, a convenient outlet layout, and USB ports, so on the surface it looks useful. The patented three-row layout is clever for spacing the outlets, but that only applies to how the outlets are positioned. It does not change how the strip is actually powered or protected. The problem is the safety design. It has 11 three-prong outlets, but the wall plug itself is only two-prong. Without a ground prong, it is not grounded. The two flat prongs are hot and neutral only, so this does not provide the grounded protection that the three-prong outlets appear to suggest. That also makes the surge protection claims highly questionable to me. A real grounded surge protector should have a grounding path for excess surge energy. With only a two-prong plug, I would not trust this to provide the kind of surge protection people generally expect when plugging in electronics or grounded devices. The manual mentions surge protection, ground protection, short-circuit protection, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, over-heat protection, and UL 1363 safety standards, but I could not find any visible UL, ETL, or similar safety certification mark on the unit or paperwork. The only marking I saw was FCC, which is not the same thing as electrical safety certification. Given the two-prong plug and three-prong outlets, those protection claims feel dubious at best and misleading at worst. The USB charging is also underwhelming. The total USB output is listed as 24W, which is not much for today’s devices, especially when that power is shared across multiple ports. We frequently use 35W or higher from a single USB charger, so I would not buy this for fast or modern device charging either. Because of the two-prong plug paired with three-prong outlets, I will absolutely not use this. I do not want a power strip that makes devices appear protected or grounded when they are not. For me, this is not a small design issue. It is a serious safety concern.
